Bazi (八字) also commonly known as the Four Pillars of Destiny, it is a technique of destiny analysis.

Each pillar represents the element present at the year, month, date and time when we are born.

Bazi analyses an individual's birth data to reveal the patterns of your luck cycle. At the same time, it allows us to identify the lifetime favourable elements and auspicious colour which will determine the appropriate colour of Imperial Harvest jadeite that is most suitable for you.

Three C’s of Imperial Harvest-grade Crystals

Every crystal from Imperial Harvest is unique and one-of-a-kind.

Master David works with mine owners from Brazil to select raw crystal blocks that complies with strict GIA certification standards – widely known as the three Cs, namely the Clarity, Colour and Cut.

Every crystal from Imperial Harvest undergoes eight rounds of rigorous testing before it is issued with an independent gemstone certification issued by Nanyang Gemological Institute based in Singapore.

Clarity

Because they are formed deep within the earth, under extreme heat and pressure; virtually all crystals contain "birthmarks"; small imperfections inside the crystals (called inclusions), or on its surface (called blemishes).

Clarity refers to the degree to which these imperfections are present. Depending on the size, location and darkness of blemishes and inclusions, these imperfections can interfere with light as it passes through the crystal, which affects the level of auspicious energies the crystals are able to administer.

There are nine different scales of clarity for a crystal and Imperial Harvest only applies the highest top three tiers of crystals in its collections.

The top three tiers of crystal clarity are namely Internally Flawless (IF), ‘Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1)’ and ‘Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS2)’.

In the traditional grading, GIA gemological institutes grade crystals based on three levels of clarity scale: transparent, translucent and opaque. Imperial Harvest sets a new benchmark and offers only transparent crystal and grades her crystal collection on a stricter scale of clarity.

Internally Flawless 

No inclusions, imperfections are only visible to a skilled grader using 10x magnification. These crystals are extremely rare and less than 0.01% of crystals are rated Internally Flawless

IF Grading Criteria

No inclusions or blemishes are visible to a skilled grader using 10x magnification.

Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1) 

For VVS1, the inclusions are invisible to the naked eye, appearing identical to the higher grades unless viewed under 10x magnification by a skilled grader.

VVS1 Grading Criteria

Inclusions are difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification.

Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS2) -

For VVS2, the inclusions are almost invisible to the naked eye, with the inclusions only visible under 10x magnification by a skilled grader.

VVS2 Grading Criteria

Inclusions are easier for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification than VVS1.

The Finest Quality Crystal 

Imperial Harvest ruthlessly rejects opaque or translucent crystals. Only crystals with the highest order of clarity and most vivid colours made it to our galleries. 

Every single Imperial Harvest crystal undergoes the most stringent certification process by an independent gemological institute before it qualifies to be of Imperial Harvest Grade. 

Examples of inferior crystals 

Inferior crystals are characterised by impurities and poor craftsmanship. 

Colour 

Imperial Harvest-grade Crystals are all-natural, meaning they have never been artificially treated to remove any blemish or to alter the colour. 

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) colour scale for crystal is the leading industry standard of crystal colour grading. Every Imperial Harvest-grade Crystal has been assigned a colour grade by the GIA in a viewing environment specially designed to eliminate colour from surrounding surfaces as well as the light source itself. This allows the colour of the crystal to be accurately measured. Minor differences in crystal colour detected in this environment are very difficult if not impossible to detect in a normal environment. 

There are six categories on the GIA crystal chart, with colour grades that range from absolutely colourless to light in colour.

Crystals rated from D are completely devoid of colour and extremely rare, whereas F- and G- graded colour crystals are near colourless, which are also very rare. Z-graded graded crystals have the most prevalent faint yellow or brown hue. By way of explanation, the later the alphabet (Z-), the lower the colour grade, the more noticeable is the faint yellow hue.

The cream of the crop, the best quality crystals are completely colourless, while those of lower quality have a noticeable faint yellow hue. However, not all coloured crystals are of low quality, as of fact crystals that possesses red, orange, yellow, green, blue or pink hues could be even more valuable than completely colourless crystals!

These crystals are known as Naturally-Occurring Coloured Crystals. Only one in every 10,000 crystals possesses brilliantly natural colours. Coloured crystals are graded completely on a separate colour scale by the GIA. Intensely vivid crystals are extremely rare and valuable.

Clear Quartz

Pure quartz, traditionally called rock crystal or clear quartz, is colourless and transparent. 99% of the clear quartz is tainted with impurities and hues of faint colours.  These clear quartz crystals are treated using heat or gamma-irradiation to induce colour where it would not otherwise have occurred naturally. Imperial Harvest only offers the top 1% of the world's natural clear quartz crystals.

Citrine

Natural citrine is one the rarest crystals in the world as 97% of the citrine crystals available in the market are heat-treated amethysts or smoky quartz, false-fully altered to parallel the intense colours of a natural citrine. Imperial Harvest offers only natural citrine that derives its brilliant fancy yellow colour from natural ferric mineral present in quartz.   

Smoky Quartz 

The smoky colour is a brown, translucent version of quartz, deriving its colour from a result of natural irradiation of silicon dioxide that creates the free silicon. Smoky quartz crystals  can range from almost completely transparent to an almost opaque natural brown smoky colour. 99.5% of the smoky quartz in the market are opaque or semi-translucent which are extremely inferior. Imperial Harvest only offers natural smoky quartz from internally flawless-grade to VVS2 quality.

Craftsmanship

A crystal owes most of its beauty to nature, but it is the shape and skilfulness of the polished crystal that determines that all-important wow factor.

In accordance to Imperial Feng Shui, crystals fashioned into auspicious designs must be deftly created to allow maximum light return from the surface of the crystal, which maximizes and redirects the earthly energies from the crystal into its surroundings, providing nearby occupants with auspicious energies. The beauty of a crystal depends more on craftsmanship than any other factor, as the energies of the crystal is augmented according to the crystal’s design. 

The craftsmanship not only determines its overall aesthetics but also its strategic purpose. Every Imperial Harvest crystal is cut and carved accordingly to Master David’s design sketches. After determining and finalising the sketches, they are sent to our workshops where our master craftsmen can begin carving out the designs.

Fallen Log Agarwood derives its name from the way the Agarwood is formed. It is an extremely rare Agarwood that can only be found in rare and dangerous old forest in deep mountains. The fermentation process takes place above the ground after a specific species of Agarwood tree has been struck by lightning or knocked down by animals.

But there are two types of crystals: natural and man-made. High-quality natural crystals are extremely rare. They are formed in the wild – in caves or underground – over a long period of time.

Some natural crystals are as old as 4 billion years. On the other hand, man-made crystals are usually created in a lab, as a result of mixing quartz, sand and minerals. These artificial crystals do not have any Feng Shui properties.

What makes an Imperial Harvest-grade crystal then? Here are some key indicators to look out for.

1. Only the Top 3 Clarity Grades

Clarity refers to the degree of transparency of the crystal. The level of impurities and imperfections also determines the clarity grading of the crystal.

The clarity of an Imperial Harvest crystal can be categorised into three levels of quality: ‘Internally Flawless’, ‘Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1)’ and ‘Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS2)’.

These are the three highest grades of crystal clarity in the world - only these crystals certified as such are deemed worthy of the Imperial Harvest name.

Internally Flawless

No inclusions, imperfections are only visible to a skilled grader using 10x magnification. These crystals are extremely rare.

Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1)

There will be one minor inclusion within the crystal of this grade but only visible under 10x magnification or more.

Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS2)

There will be minor inclusions within a crystal of this grade but only visible under 10x magnification or more.

2. Only All-Natural, Top 3 Colour Grades

Imperial Harvest-grade crystals are all-natural, meaning they have never been artificially treated to remove any blemish or change the colour. 

The highest-quality crystals are colourless, while those of lower quality have a noticeable pale yellow hue.

The Gemological Institute of American (GIA) colour scale for crystal is the leading industry standard of crystal colour grading. 

There are six categories on the GIA crystal chart, with colour grades that range from absolutely colourless to light in colour. Crystals rated D are devoid of colour and very rare, whereas F- and G-graded colour crystals are near colourless. Z-graded crystals have the most prevalent light yellow / brown hue. 

In other words, the later the alphabet, the lower the colour grade is. The lower the colour grade, the more noticeable the pale yellow hue.

Colourless Crystal Vs. Coloured Crystals

However, not all coloured crystals are of low quality. In fact, crystals that contain red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink or purple hues can be even more valuable than white crystals! 

These are known as Naturally-Occuring Coloured Crystals. Only one in every 10,000 crystals possesses natural colours. Coloured crystals are graded on a separate colour scale. The more intense the colour, the rarer and more valuable the crystal.

Colourless Crystals - Clear Quartz

Clear Quartz is colourless and transparent - a result of the crystals growing with very little or no contact with their host rock. 

99% of the clear quartz in the market is tainted with impurities and hues of faint colours.  These clear quartz crystals are treated using heat or gamma-irradiation to induce colour. Imperial Harvest only offers the top 1% of the world's natural clear quartz crystals.
