Imperial Harvest continues to stand at the forefront of contemporary Imperial Feng Shui, striving to cultivate the perfect balance between contemporary design and cultural heritage. We understand our clients and their changing needs and goals, remaining dedicated in our commitment to fostering their unlimited human potential and guiding them to achieve monumental successes.

As Imperial Harvest continues to grow in its trajectory, we are proud to introduce two intricate seals, bearing the name of Imperial Harvest and Master David himself. These serve as testaments to the flawlessness and intricacy that characterise the fine earthly treasures at Imperial Harvest, as well as a commitment to the tradition, innovation, quality and savoir-faire that epitomise the Imperial Harvest brand.

The Heirloom Seal of the Realm

Throughout China’s illustrious history, imperial seals have played key roles in the establishment of different dynasties. Prior to the advent of personal signatures, watermarks or other forms of document certifications, seals such as these were more conventional, particularly across East Asia. In dynastic Chinese history, such seals were used by the imperial court as a stamp of verification, bearing the affirmation of the certifying authority. Gradually, they became a mark of endorsement exclusively reserved for the Chinese emperors.

Today, these seals are priceless relics and records of China’s dynastic background and rank amongst some of the most important historical artefacts.

Blog_01.21_IH Seal_HeShiBi

One of these historical artefacts held a monumentally important role in Chinese history — the sacred Heshibi was a ceremonial jade disk cut into a ritual bi “璧”, or a jade disk with a round hole in the centre. Recognised as an imperial treasure, the Heshibi was thought to have been carved into the Heirloom Seal of the Realm in 211 BCE during the foundation of the Qin dynasty.

The Heirloom Seal of the Realm, created by the first Emperor of China, was symbolic of the Mandate of Heaven. It bore the inscription, “Having received the Mandate from Heaven, may the emperor lead a long and prosperous life (受命於天, 既壽永昌).” As such, the seal was seen as a legitimising device embodying the Mandate of Heaven, conferring upon each succeeding emperor the authority to rule, as well as the revered status as the Son of Heaven.

The Heirloom Seal of the Realm signified the passing of the mandate of heaven to succeeding generations of emperors. Akin to the generational inheritance of the mandate of heaven, Master David’s tri-generational lineage of Imperial Feng Shui inspiration brings the inheritance of the mandate to share the noble art of Imperial Feng Shui.

The Imperial Harvest Seal is a spherical vermilion seal bearing a stylized rendition of the Imperial Harvest name in Chinese characters.

Master David’s Seal

At Imperial Harvest, the emperor’s imperial seal is reimagined as a mark of authenticity for the works of art conceptualised and designed by Master David. This second seal bears the Chinese characters, “吴宸翔”, which reflect Master David’s name in Chinese and highlights his identity as one of the leading names in Imperial Feng Shui.

Blog_01.21_IH Seal_MD Seal on Inkstone-1Master David’s seal features the Chinese character, “玺”, referencing the ancient imperial provenance of its application. In Chinese dynastic history, this character was used by prominent and revered emperors to proclaim their mandate from heaven to rule. The use of “玺”, as applied by Master David, represents his multi-generational mandate to revitalise and rejuvenate the ancient art of Imperial Feng Shui.

This personal mark of endorsement features the use of the 古篆 font, a contemporary typeface that mirrors the seal script favoured by past generations of emperors in conveying their wisdom and undisputed authority. Parallel to the emperor’s imperial seal embodying their ruling mandate, Master David’s Seal represents a steadfast commitment to innovation and sharing the art of Imperial Feng Shui worldwide.

With the application of Master David’s seal on the exquisite treasures at Imperial Harvest, its presence serves to affirm and guarantee the originality of the work as conceptualised by Master David himself.

Blog_01.21_IH Seal_IH Seal on certificateMaster David’s Seal is also applied to Imperial Harvest’s Certificate of Authenticity that accompanies each Imperial Harvest treasure, reinforcing its authenticity and authority. In doing so, it acknowledges the expertise required in the creation of each exceptional Imperial Feng Shui treasure and provides assurances that the pieces are indeed genuine works of art commissioned and created by Master David.

Today, the introduction of the Imperial Harvest seal alongside Master David’s seal brings together Imperial Harvest’s cutting-edge expertise at the forefront of Imperial Feng Shui with a generations-long commitment to delivering only the finest and most potent Imperial Feng Shui insights and treasures.

Significance of Li Chun

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 14 January 2022

According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, the year of the Tiger will soon be upon us. The arrival of a new year brings with it immense social and cultural significance, along with a raft of implications for Imperial Feng Shui. A new year bears the connotation of new beginnings, and represents starting afresh on a clean slate. This gives rise to widespread celebrations of hope, as many look forward to renewal in their lives, accompanied by improved prosperity and other forms of blessing.

Arguably one of the most cherished and significant aspects of Chinese New Year festivities would be the onset of Li Chun (立春). This refers to the beginning of the first of 24 terms which constitute the Chinese solar calendar. In 2022, Li Chun falls on 4 February. It marks the period when the sun falls between the celestial longitudes of 315° and 330°, or more precisely, when it aligns perfectly with the celestial longitude of 315°. Analogous to the implications of Li Dong, which signifies the onset of winter, Li Chun indicates the arrival of spring. Across most of the northern hemisphere, this period coincides with celebrations of Chinese New Year.

Cultural Traditions of Li Chun

Across large swathes of East Asia, the season of spring, and especially the Li Chun period, bears witness to the region’s largely agrarian roots. As Li Chun ushers in a new year, farmers traditionally used this time to appeal to an extensive pantheon of gods for favourable weather conditions and a bountiful year of harvest ahead. Worship of these gods was colourful and varied, with an intriguing diversity of elements, forms and expressions. Li Chun was also in practice a time of merriment and conviviality, with entire communities gathering in collective worship, song and dance.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_Farmers Day in China

The importance of crop cultivation to these societies was underscored by the official proclamation of a “Farmers’ Day” around the Li Chun period. As the title suggests, this occasion served to highlight and celebrate the crucial role played by farmers in ensuring society’s continued sustenance and survival. It consisted of a series of community-based activities such as competitions, games and feasting, making it one of the most cherished and eagerly-anticipated celebratory events in the annual calendar. Farmers’ Day was celebrated just before the start of the hectic sowing season each spring, providing a welcome fillip to the land and crop preparation activities that would soon be in full swing.

Li Chun in the Imperial Court

Behind the gates of the imperial palace, the emperor and his court officials also geared up for Li Chun in no trivial manner. This period was when the emperor’s revered status as the Son of Heaven came to the fore. Acting as a Heaven-appointed custodian and commander of the earthly realm, he was in charge of the fortunes of his vast empire. With Li Chun marking the start of a new year, the emperor performed a timely intervention during this period for a fruitful year of harvest ahead, appealing on behalf of his earthly subjects for favourable weather conditions and crop yield.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_LiChun in Qing Dynasty

The emperor’s Li Chun rites were truly a spectacle to behold. Clad in his imperial finery, the Son of Heaven prepared sacrifices of the highest graded livestock and produce, ascribing them to the skies while invoking the blessings of the omnipotent celestial beings. Ritualistic prayers, songs and chants were also performed, paying homage to the all-encompassing powers of Heaven.

Reflecting their utmost importance to the survival of the empire, the emperor’s imperial Li Chun rites demanded the flawless execution of all culturally-relevant proceedings. The slightest error was interpreted as an ominous foreshadowing of affliction and adversity, including poor crop quality. With this consideration, most commoners were barred from attending or witnessing the performance of the imperial Li Chun rites, and were instead instructed to keep their distance. Over time, this kept the emperor’s Li Chun proceedings shrouded in secrecy, fuelling the common man’s fascination with the imperial mystique of this festival.

Season of Spring

According to the tenets of Imperial Feng Shui, the season of spring is closely associated with the minor yang. This is one of the four phenomena that form Tai Ji, the collective essence of Heaven and Earth. The minor yang’s significance in Imperial Feng Shui lies in its governance of individuals’ innate intuition. Intuition refers to the ability to discern and identify key information in the absence of clearly-defined data. It is critical for making decisions in uncertain situations, in which processes and actions to take may not be immediately obvious. Having good intuition empowers one to act decisively in the midst of ambiguity, and seize the day to enjoy first-mover advantages.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_Minor YangWith the inherent link between intuition and the minor yang, increasing one’s intuitive qualities necessarily entails ensuring an optimal balance of this important phenomenon. In one of the seminal discoveries of Chinese dynastic history, Imperial Feng Shui masters of the Qing court found that fine jadeite cabochons possessed the ability to balance the minor yang. As a result of their rigorous studies of Imperial Feng Shui classics, the use of these earthly treasures to balance the minor yang became widespread.

Fine Jadeite Cabochons

Today, Imperial Harvest continues to uphold the scholarly findings of these eminent masters. Fine jadeite cabochons are a mainstay of the Imperial Harvest collection, bestowing upon the destined owner elevated intuitive qualities applied to a range of personal and professional pursuits.

As Imperial Harvest welcomes Spring 2022, fine jadeite cabochon treasures inevitably take centre stage throughout this opportune season to amplify the minor yang. The Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition ring is an auspicious Imperial Feng Shui treasure that aptly and unfailingly takes on this mantle.

Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition

Blog_01.14_LiChun_TOE Rings

Inspired by the architecture of the Temple of Earth in central Beijing, the Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition ring pays homage to this monumental site of imperial worship. Commissioned by Emperor Jia Jing of the Ming dynasty, it was completed in 1531 after intensive construction work. Since then, it has been an important site for successive generations of emperors, who performed a variety of prayers and other rituals within its hallowed compound. In particular, it was where sacrificial offerings were made to the God of Earth, also known as Tudi Gong or Tua Pek Gong, to whom emperors prayed for a flourishing and prosperous state of affairs across their land. Today, the Temple of Earth is a major tourist attraction, and remains an important spiritual and cultural site of Chinese national significance.

Boasting a pristine fine jadeite cabochon as its crown jewel, the Imperial Harvest Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition ring is a potent balancer of the minor yang, with an exquisite appearance to match. It portrays a visual symphony of innovative textures fused tastefully with the iconic cabochon, capturing the Imperial Harvest dedication to both contemporary design and cultural heritage.

The Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition ring features two exquisite designs, inspired by the distinctive architectural language of its namesake. Each is a unique fusion of several finishes - matte, satin and mirror - showcasing Imperial Harvest’s mastery of gemstone design and production.

Temple of Earth: BOH4901

The Diamond-tiled Bliss of Harvest ring features an exquisitely guilloched hobnail pattern known as the Clous de Paris. On this ring, this detailed embossing is repurposed as a tribute to the characteristic design of the Temple of Earth. Indeed, the small pyramidal knobs and regular four-sided pattern evoke close comparisons with the Temple’s diamond-shaped roof.

On the bas-relief ring band, a series of diamond-inspired details project from the surface, highlighting both its grandeur and that of the Temple of Earth. The meticulously-textured and hand-polished band contrasts subtly with the surrounding matte rim, presenting a yin-yang depiction of the intertwined relationship between the heavenly and earthly realms.

Temple of Earth: BOH4902

Blog_01.14_LiChun_TOE Rings Black

The distinctive Square-tiled surface of the other Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition ring is an exquisite testament to the Temple of Earth’s square-themed architecture layout. This draws inspiration from the deep-seated Chinese philosophy of “天圆地方”, or “Round Sky, Square Earth”, which associates squares and square-shaped objects with the earthly realm.

The eight pairs of angular protrusions positioned evenly along the ring band are reminiscent of the sturdy pillars that buttress the main halls of the Temple of Earth. On the Bliss of Harvest ring, they subtly direct the gaze towards the pièce de résistance of the Imperial Feng Shui treasure - the immaculate fine jadeite cabochon firmly ensconced within its housing brackets on the band’s surface.

At Imperial Harvest, the innovative reimagination of ancient imperial ritualistic worship at the Temple of Earth pays tribute to the indelible heritage of this revered site. Reflecting the enlightened findings of ancient Imperial Feng Shui masters, the fine jadeite cabochon on the Bliss of Harvest ring confers upon blessed wearers elevated levels of intuitive interpretation and decision-making proficiencies. This facilitates strategic planning and execution of key personal and professional decisions, empowering them in the fulfilment of their inherent unlimited human potential.

Direct Wealth Gods

Direct Wealth Gods - Bi Gan

Given its proximity to the beginning of a new year in the Chinese calendar, it is inevitable that Li Chun is inextricably associated with Chinese New Year festivities. A new year, as reflected in the Chinese lunisolar calendar, is deeply associated with renewed luck and prosperity. This explains the intimate links between Chinese New Year and the Grand Wealth God Bi Gan (大财神比干). Before his deification, Bi Gan was a prominent premier who adeptly guided King Zhou in the administration of Shang Dynasty, leading to its flourishing success. Bi Gan’s eminent stewardship was recognised in his eventual deification as the Grand Wealth God.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_Fine Jadeite Grand Wealth God

As the primary custodian of direct wealth, Grand Wealth God Bi Gan oversees devotees’ prosperity aspirations, empowering them with golden opportunities to grow their wealth and achieve the outcomes of their dreams. Bi Gan’s role is especially prominent on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar, when he is actively sought to bestow his blessings of prosperity upon the year ahead.

This upcoming Li Chun season, Imperial Harvest ushers in a prosperous Chinese New Year with the Fine Jadeite Grand Wealth God, which immortalises Bi Gan’s authority, power and influence with a trio of wealth garnering emblems - the Wealth Garnering Pot (聚宝盆), Ruyi Scepter (玉如意) and Wealth Garnering Gold Ingot (聚财金元宝). Collectively, they bestow upon destined owners an abundance of opportunities and prosperity, facilitating their achievement of record-breaking sales, salary increments, windfalls and investment returns.

Direct Wealth Gods - Tua Pek Gong

Another important direct wealth God with increased prominence during the Li Chun and Chinese New Year period is Tua Pek Gong (福德正神大伯公), who is recognised as the God of Earth. While the emperor and his officials had access to the Temple of Earth to pay their respects to Tua Pek Gong, the common man often worshipped him at dedicated temples across the empire.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_Fine Jadeite Tua Pek Gong

In his mortal days, Tua Pek Gong was a top government official who oversaw taxation matters. Serving in the imperial court during the Zhou dynasty, he performed a role not unlike that of a modern-day finance minister. With his financial acumen, he took on a series of economy-based duties upon deification, and came to be worshipped as a Career Wealth God.

In the Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Tua Pek Gong, he is depicted wielding powerful emblems of fortune and power. For devotees seeking a prosperous beginning to the Year of the Tiger this Li Chun, Tua Pek Gong carries the Magical Gold Ingot (金玉宝) to signify an abundance of gold, or material wealth, upon the destined owner. Blessed wearers embarking on new careers are also empowered with strategic opportunities and benefactors at work, thereby accelerating the realisation of their career aspirations.

Direct Wealth Gods - Guan Gong

As Business Wealth God, Guan Gong (武财神关公) is especially significant to entrepreneurs this Li Chun. Known for his bravery and loyalty as a general serving under warlord Liu Bei (刘备), Guan Gong’s undying commitment to restoring the glory of the Eastern Han Dynasty was held in high esteem.

Blog_01.14_LiChun_Fine Jadeite Guan Gong

Even today, Guan Gong’s legendary tenacity and foresight on the battlefield are widely regarded as desirable qualities to emulate. In particular, they are highly applicable to budding entrepreneurs striving to grow and develop their ventures.

Indeed, business is war (商场如战场). Thriving in entrepreneurship is akin to emerging victorious in warfare. Acute foresight, business intuition and a well-connected network are essential ingredients for contemporary businesses to survive and thrive. As a well-rounded embodiment of these coveted traits, Business Wealth God Guan Gong inspires and empowers countless entrepreneurs in the pursuit of their dreams.

The Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Guan Gong depicts the acclaimed general astride a Champion Stallion (千里马), an exceptional breed that is capable of traversing great distances. Summoning an abundance of benefactors and opportunities, it inspires everlasting business success and exponential growth.

As Li Chun brings with it the arrival of spring across the northern hemisphere, it presents a highly favourable opportunity to begin the new zodiac year with an optimal balance of the minor yang. Presenting impeccable jadeite cabochon treasures of the finest design and craftsmanship, Imperial Harvest stands ready to empower blessed clients with yet another year of elevated intuitive acumen. 2022 Imperial White Inkstone and Qian Long Wishing Stone Collection

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 07 January 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 5 mins

In 2022, Imperial Harvest is honoured to present the all-new Imperial White Inkstone and Qian Long Wishing Stone Collection for the year of Water Tiger.

The Imperial White Inkstone is among the most potent activators of the authority star. According to the findings of pioneering Imperial Feng Shui masters in dynastic Chinese history, they possess the potent ability of "一白遮三丑, 一旺挡三煞" which translated literally, means that they promote the auspicious energy of one sector while countering three inauspicious sectors.

In summary, the Imperial White Inkstone collection serves three purposes:

  • Activate the authority star (Martial Art 武曲) to promote power, fame and support of benefactors
  • Negate three types of inauspiciousness: malefactor 小人, lawsuit 官非 and disputes 口舌
  • Negate health and relationship problems arising from missing sectors in your homes and offices

This makes the Imperial White Inkstone one of the most versatile and multi-functional tools in the array of Imperial Feng Shui treasures.

Emperor Qian Long

Today at Imperial Harvest, these fine Imperial Feng Shui treasures share the same grade and provenance as those embraced by Emperor Qian Long centuries ago, holding the key to unlocking wealth, power and authority of the homes and offices of blessed clients.

Annual Flying Star Floor Plan

Imperial Harvest upholds the heritage of Emperor Qian Long with the Royal Emblem Collection, which is specifically created to activate the Natal authority star #6 (Martial Arts 武曲星).

Designed to activate the natal authority star (Martial Arts 武曲星), the Imperial White Inkstone collection (Royal Emblem) consists of the most auspicious mythical and legendary creatures in the Chinese pantheon, hand-engraved by master artisans with multi-generational expertise and experience.

The intricate ink-like detailing consists of three distinct pairings of the most mythical and legendary creatures in the ancient Chinese pantheon, each stylised into a respectful, yet elaborate motif of auspiciousness.

Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone Double Dragon

The first is a double-dragon design, which focuses on the legendary mythical creature that embodies the authority, power and wisdom of ancient Chinese emperors.

Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone Dragon Tiger

Next, the dragon and tiger series features the king of animals, as suggested by its distinctive forehead markings forming the outline of “王”, the Chinese character for “king”. In Chinese folklore, the tiger protects all that is upright and good, while granting protection from different disasters, such as fires or thieves.

Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone Dragon Phoenix

The last series features the dragon and phoenix, with these two mythical creatures naturally complementing each other. Culturally, the phoenix is closely associated with the empress whereas the dragon’s image is often related to the emperor. The phoenix’s presence alongside the dragon conveys a yin-yang representation of balance and completeness within the home of the destined owner.

These classic imperial symbols of power and prosperity were commonplace in the landscape of ancient China, meshing and melding seamlessly with both oriental and global art techniques such as pointillism, showcasing the diversity of detail on these truly inclusive canvases of art.

Upon finalisation of design sketches, Imperial Harvest’s team of experienced artisans cut, carve and mold the inkstones according to the most precise proportions and designs. Pairing unrivalled expertise with the most cutting-edge, specialised tools allows for the carving of the most minute details with meticulous precision and care.

The subsequent polishing of each Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone highlights its distinctive design elements and accentuates its unique proportions. This is done by hand using the free-floating technique which unfailingly produces a smooth, blemish-free surface.

Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone blemish free surface

The result of these elaborate processes is a truly stunning collection that befits the Imperial Harvest brand. The Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone presents a flawless visual profile that accentuates its pristine pureness – a testament to our pursuit of excellence in quality and craftsmanship.

Imperial Harvest Seals

Underscoring the flawlessness and intricacy that details the Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstones are the two vermilion seals branded onto them. Before the advent of personal signatures, watermarks or electronic document certifications, seals such as these were commonplace, particularly across East Asia. In dynastic Chinese history, such seals were used by the imperial court as a stamp of verification, bearing the affirmation of the certifying authority.

Today, many luxury timepieces bear the unique seal of their illustrious watch maisons as a testament to their centuries-long lineage. These seals also serve to authenticate the pieces as genuine works of art, commissioned and created by the watchmakers whose names they bear.

In the Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone collection, the spherical seal occupying centre stage is a stylized rendition of the Imperial Harvest mark, depicting the Imperial Harvest name in Chinese characters. It is a hallmark of Imperial Harvest’s superlative craftsmanship and embodies all that the brand stands for in its design and technical prowess, along with a relentless pursuit of perfection.

Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone Imperial Harvest Seal

Imperial seals were also widely used by the emperor himself. In ancient China, many emperors possessed their personal, unique seals and used them to indicate their endorsement and approval. Emperor Qian Long, for instance, was known to mark documents with his seals before sending them to relevant officials to be processed. He was known to possess up to 20 different seals, each one bearing a specific inscription for use in a specific context.

Seal of the Emperor

Being an avid writer and artist, Emperor Qian Long often affixed his seals onto his masterpiece creations to serve as a mark of originality, ascribing credit for the work to the Emperor himself.

Today at Imperial Harvest, the emperor’s imperial seal is reimagined as a mark of authenticity for the works of art conceptualised by Master David. In the Royal Emblem Collection, this second seal functions as his unique personal signature. It bears the Chinese characters “吴宸翔”, reflecting Master David’s name in Chinese, and highlighting his identity as a leading Imperial Feng Shui master.

Meanwhile, the character “玺” appended to Master David’s name takes reference from its ancient imperial application. In Chinese dynastic history, it was used by prominent and revered emperors as a bold proclamation of their mandate from heaven to rule. In a similar fashion, “玺”, as applied by Master David, represents his contemporary mandate to revitalize the ancient lost art of Imperial Feng Shui.

Collectively, the presence of this personal seal on the Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstone represents an affirmation of its authenticity as an original work of art conceptualised and created by Master David himself.

Master David personal seal

This personal mark of originality and endorsement bears the 古篆 font, mirroring one of the most popular typefaces favoured by generations of emperors to convey their inspired wisdom and undisputed authority. Parallel to the emperor’s imperial seal embodying their ruling mandate, Master David’s personal seal on the Royal Emblem Imperial White Inkstones represents his steadfast commitment to sharing the art of Imperial Feng Shui worldwide.

Together, the pair of seals represent the depth of Master David’s tri-generational lineage of Imperial Feng Shui inspiration, melded with Imperial Harvest’s cutting-edge expertise at the forefront of artisanal Imperial Feng Shui treasures.

Qian Long Wishing Stone

Alongside the natal authority star which governs one’s influence and leadership, a complementary scope of Imperial Feng Shui involves ushering in an abundance of benefactor support, wealth and health. This is where the Qian Long Wishing Stone plays a starring role. It is a close cousin of the Imperial White Inkstone, sharing with it several physical traits and qualities.

While it bears the similar smooth jade-like texture and feel of the Imperial White Inkstone, the Qian Long Wishing Stone bears key distinguishing marks.

The Qian Long Wishing Stone features the following key traits:

  1. Distinct reddish-brown striations in its facade (a result of the iron minerals) known as red vermillion lines 朱砂线
  2. Shiny black striations (a result of carbon mineral) known as black gold lines 乌金线

Wishing Stone (Red and Black Lines)

With the difference in form comes a difference in function - the Wishing Stones are primarily employed in the activation of the annual flying stars.

  2. South sector for indirect wealth
  3. North-West sector for power, benefactor and authority

Versatility in function

Grinding Inkstone

As the Qian Long Wishing Stone is versatile and compact, it is particularly useful for clients whose work is mobile or requires frequent travel. It can be conveniently transported and manoeuvred into place as required.

For example, while the Qian Long Wishing Stone may be installed in a home based on its annual wealth sectors, it can also be easily moved to a different space for meditative purposes. This can be especially useful when preparing for important deliverables or deal closings, as you may meditate with the Qian Long Wishing Stone for a favourable outcome.

Harnessing the Imperial Feng Shui properties of the Qian Long Wishing Stone, while meditating upon it, is a highly-ceremonial affair that can be traced back to how these Wishing Stones were traditionally employed by the imperial court in ancient China.

Emperor Qian Long White Inkstone

As part of their day-to-day role in overseeing the governance of the empire, emperors were heavily involved in making suites of important decisions. Emperor Qian Long was known to have had a penchant for using these specific types of stones to grind the specially-concocted vermilion cinnabar paste he used in his imperial seal while reviewing daily state affairs. It was thought that this aided in focusing his thoughts and deliberations on the most crucial and consequential information, empowering him to make inspired decisions for the continued success of the empire.

Over time, Emperor Qian Long’s habit caught on through successive generations of emperors, who similarly employed such stones in the grinding of the imperial vermilion cinnabar paste. These Wishing Stones came to be associated with their role in evoking a quiet and contemplative state of deliberation through this meditation.

Today, Imperial Harvest is committed to upholding this culturally-significant tradition passed down in royal circles centuries ago. Upon acquiring a Qian Long Wishing Stone, destined owners also receive a lifetime’s supply of Imperial Harvest’s special Imperial Vermilion Inksticks - the same powerful concoction used to bless every Imperial Harvest treasure. Following in the imperial traditions of ancient Chinese emperors, these Imperial Vermilion Inksticks can be ground with water against the Qian Long Wishing Stone to produce the striking bright imperial ink. Alternatively, agarwood and sandalwood oil may be used instead of water to incorporate their auspicious direct and indirect wealth properties.

Just like Emperor Qian Long and subsequent emperors, blessed clients are empowered to focus on key aspects and promptly arrive at inspired decisions, while mulling over important matters in day-to-day personal and professional endeavours.

Meticulously handcrafted, the Imperial Harvest Qinan Agarwood collection boasts the top echelons of quality. The collection consists of five alluring tiers of premium Qinan Agarwood, each piece incorporating auspicious designs to enhance its superlative beauty and abilities.

During the Ming and Qing dynasties, generations of emperors patronised the Temple of Earth to offer their annual tributes to the God of Earth. It was believed that such worship during the Summer Solstice would usher abundance, prosperity and growth into the kingdom. To commemorate 490 years of Summer Solstice Celebrations at the Temple of Earth, we unveiled the Bliss of Harvest: Temple of Earth Edition.

Comprising two exquisite works of art that perfectly encapsulate Master David’s vision, the collection pays homage to the traditions of past Chinese dynasties. Drawing influence from the magnificent architecture of the Temple of Earth, each ring is skilfully engraved with French techniques, fusing the art of Imperial Feng Shui with a contemporary aesthetic.

With the winter season being so closely associated with the element of water and the water star, we launched the exquisite Citrine Crystal Collection. Specially conceptualised by Master David, these exquisite citrine crystals activate the auspicious water star within homes and properties once it has been correctly installed.

One of the rarest categories of crystals, more than 97% of market-grade citrine is heat or colour treated to achieve its signature colour. Imperial Harvest-grade citrine, on the other hand, is flawless, unheated and a natural-colour crystal — highly prized for its exceptional colour and clarity. With its golden-yellow hue, citrine is associated with the earth element, enabling it to activate another powerful wealth star.

2022 Annual Afflictions

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 23 December 2021

Estimated Reading Time: 3minutes

San Yuan Xuan Kong is one of the most important principles in the practice of Imperial Feng Shui. It forms the foundation of mapping the energy of a home, office, or retail space. Through the study of the Flying Star chart, an Imperial Feng Shui practitioner would be able to accurately forecast and interpret the prosperity and wellbeing of the occupants of a particular space, as well as the specific events they may encounter.

Annual affliction stems from the same principles as the San Yuan Xuan Kong Flying Star. Each year, different afflictions or stars move to different sectors of the home or the working space, and it is prudent to be aware of these annual afflictions to avoid misfortune befalling your loved ones.

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022According to the principles of Imperial Feng Shui, there are four different types of annual afflictions:

  • Tai Sui (太岁)
  • Year Breaker (岁破)
  • Three Killings (三煞)
  • Five Yellow (五黄)

In 2022, the locations of the annual afflictions, as well as their considerations, are as follows:

1. Tai Sui (太岁)

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Tai Sui

Tai Sui (太岁) is also known as the Grand Duke Jupiter Tai Sui in Imperial Feng Shui. Although symbolically associated with Jupiter, Tai Sui’s position is signified by the earthly branch (the zodiac sign) governing the year. Additionally, those born in the years of the Tiger, Monkey, Snake, and the Pig should avoid the Northeast direction entirely as these zodiac signs will experience a clash with Tai Sui in 2022.

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Tai Sui Floor Plan

As 2022 marks the year of the Tiger, the Northeast sector is affected by Tai Sui, covering an area of 15 degrees from 52.5° to 67.5°. It is important to take note of afflictions in the Tai Sui direction as offending it may bring misfortune, worries, material losses, obstacles and illnesses for the family.

To avoid offending Tai Sui in 2022, be mindful to:

  • Avoid construction and renovation work, or other major groundbreaking work in the Northeastern direction.
  • Avoid sitting, sleeping, or working with your head pointing at Tai Sui. It is recommended to always face the Year Breaker position in these cases.

2. Year Breaker (岁破)

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Year Breaker

As such, the Year Breaker clashes with Tai Sui and should be treated with a similar amount of caution. Offending the Year Breaker may bring about loss of wealth, create obstacles and bring about illnesses.

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Year Breaker Floor Plan

Some important things to take note of in 2022:

  • Avoid construction and renovation work, or other major groundbreaking work in the Southwestern direction.
  • Always face the Year Breaker when you are working or sleeping
  • Avoid sitting or sleeping with your back facing the Year Breaker as you will be directly facing Tai Sui.

3. Three Killings (三煞)

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Three Killings

The Three Killings, otherwise known as the Three Massacres or San Sha, are often associated with negative repercussions. Its effects create obstacles, misfortunes such as theft or loss of wealth, as well as causing recurring health problems and professional setbacks. The Three Killings consist of 3 types of Sha Qi, or negative Feng Shui – namely Robbery Sha (劫煞), Calamity Sha (灾煞) and Annual Sha (岁煞).

In 2022, the Three Killings are located in the Northern position, covering an area of 90 degrees in the North 1, North 2, and North 3 sectors.

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Three Killings Floor Plan

In 2022, take note of the following:

  • If the Three Killings are situated in the sitting direction of your house or property, all renovation work or groundbreaking work should be avoided entirely.
  • As the Three Killings are said to bring many misfortunes, you should also avoid sitting with your back to the North.

4. Five Yellow (五黄)

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_Five Yellow

Five Yellow (五黄) is known as the most ominous star in the Flying Star Chart. This inauspicious Earth star brings about personal tragedies such as illnesses, accidents, financial losses and relationship conflicts.

In 2022, the effects of the Five Yellow star are of much greater concern due to the position it is housed in. It is housed in the center sector, making it the dominant star of the year. Due to its centrality, its ill effects may impact everyone in 2022, casting bad luck in all areas.

Due to the Five Yellow star being in the center sector, any renovations or groundbreaking work should be avoided completely. Avoid stirring up the area with excessive noise, bright lights, and bustling activity. Problems will also arise if the Five Yellow star is situated at the main door, the stove, or the bed as that constitutes a negative flying star combination.

Mitigating Annual Afflictions

With these circumstances at hand, the annual afflictions may seem daunting. This may be especially so in cases where you may not be able to readily relocate your homes and properties, or are unable to reposition your furniture favourably.

These negatives can be combated through the introduction of Imperial Feng Shui solutions, which aid in safeguarding the home and converting these difficulties into opportunities for good fortune. The best example of this may be Emperor Qian Long’s use of Imperial White Inkstones during the height of the Qing Imperial dynasty.

Imperial White Inkstone

During Emperor Qian Long’s esteemed reign, the Imperial Feng Shui masters serving under him looked to the Imperial White Inkstone to combat these annual afflictions, drawing on their potent abilities.

Inkstones are commonly mined from the Seven Star Crags in Guangdong. Although these stones come in a variety of different colours, only a minuscule percentage of them are white, making the white inkstone the rarest type available. Historically, the exclusivity of these inkstones meant that they were reserved for use by Chinese emperors, aided by Imperial Feng Shui masters to empower the royals with authority and legitimacy.

Blog_12.24_Annual Flying Stars of 2022_InkstoneThe Imperial White Inkstone addresses the issues that arise from missing or lacking sectors by promoting the auspicious energy of one sector while simultaneously countering three inauspicious sectors. Its installation within the home or office counteracts the ill effects of Sha Qi and activates the authority sector within the space.

The Imperial White Inkstone stands as a fine representation of Emperor Qian Long’s reverence and unwavering advocacy for the art of Imperial Feng Shui. The intricate motifs on each Imperial Harvest Imperial White Inkstone were first conceptualised by Master David, who then engages only the finest artisans, each boasting a wealth of techniques inherited from previous generations.

Each Imperial White Inkstone is meticulously engraved by the master artisans, each employing specialised tools to carve the most minute of details into the precious stone before hand-polishing to give the Imperial White Inkstone its signature lustre.

The Imperial Harvest Imperial White Inkstones that emerge from this meticulous process embody the heritage of Emperor Qian Long and the Qing imperial court, complementary to their unrivalled Imperial Feng Shui properties.

The Complete Guide to Imperial Harvest Jadeite

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 17 December 2021

Estimated Reading Time: 3 mins

For centuries, precious gems such as diamonds and rubies have been mainstays of high fashion in the west. Such treasures have come to be widely recognized as highly visible status symbols and markers of success.

Closer to home, jade has traditionally been the gemstone of choice in Oriental nobility circles. This was especially so in ancient China, where it was revered as an indicator of imperial spirituality, purity and health for over 9,000 years throughout its dynastic history. Reflecting the prized status of exquisite jadeite treasures, they have been worn exclusively as a badge of honour and prestige by Chinese royalty and the ruling elite. It is indeed telling that the Chinese character for “emperor” or “royalty”, “王”, appears almost identical to the character for “jade”, “玉”.

Application of Jadeite in Imperial Feng Shui

According to Imperial Feng Shui principles, jadeite is a key component of the suite of earthly treasures used to empower practitioners in achieving their unlimited human potential. Given the prominence of this cherished art in the fortunes of ancient Chinese empires, it comes as no surprise that jadeite treasures were hugely popular and widely found across the imperial court.

Generations of Chinese emperors favoured Imperial Feng Shui for its unwavering focus on creating favourable luck and outcomes. This contrasted sharply with other schools of thought which were often more complex or detached from the stark realities encountered in everyday life. Too often, these alternative frameworks called for highly impractical courses of action, and embodied a frustrating passivity towards designing one’s desired destiny.

Emperor Qian Long (乾隆) of the Qing dynasty was one of the most renowned and prominent advocates of Imperial Feng Shui. With his eminence and foresight, he recognized the tremendous benefits to be reaped by subscribing to its simplicity, practicality and effectiveness. His illustrious reign, which was heavily guided by Imperial Feng Shui principles, set the stage for the Qing dynasty’s everlasting abundance and prosperity.

Among the treasures employed by Emperor Qian Long’s Imperial Feng Shui masters were highly prized artefacts such as agarwood, sandalwood and carefully curated varieties of natural crystals. The cornerstone of the Imperial Feng Shui treasures in Emperor Qian Long’s court, however, were the fine Burmese jadeites that liberally graced the hallways, forming the bedrock of his distinguished rule.

Imperial Harvest Jadeite

Today, Imperial Harvest reimagines Emperor Qian Long’s prized jadeite treasures, presenting two key jadeite collections that work harmoniously in fulfilment of clients’ unlimited human potential.

Drawing on the findings of Emperor Qian Long’s Imperial Feng Shui masters, Imperial Harvest’s jadeite pendants adroitly balance the major yin. Achieving an optimal balance of this phenomenon, destined owners are blessed with an abundance of good personal luck throughout their personal and professional endeavours.

On the other hand, the Imperial Harvest jadeite cabochon collection ensures one’s minor yang is perfectly balanced, bestowing upon the blessed wearer a highly-intuitive presence of mind. These are then painstakingly sketched to perfection, with the resulting artwork reflecting the richness of each deity’s features and prosperity tools in remarkable detail.

Complementing the Imperial Harvest fine jadeite pendants is the fine jadeite cabochon collection, which forms the crowning glory of Imperial Harvest’s exquisitely-designed artisanal rings. Just as the minor yang is depicted residing deep within the major yin, Imperial Harvest’s fine jadeite cabochons are harvested from the centre of large jadeite boulders, where Imperial Feng Shui energies are the densest and most intense. Capping the signature Bliss of Harvest ring collection, the five available cabochon cuts perfectly complement and accentuate the rings’ refinement, each bearing auspicious connotations for the wearer’s diverse endeavours.

Imperial Harvest caters to the various elemental balances of diverse Bazi charts. All five elemental colours are available, and are prescribed according to the lifetime favourable elements reflected in the client’s Bazi chart.

Upon being acquired, every Imperial Harvest jadeite treasure undergoes a thorough blessing session conducted by Master David himself. This imbues each jadeite treasure with optimal auspicious energies, and empowers destined owners in achieving their innate unlimited human potential.

Central to the blessing ceremony is the specially concocted vermilion (开光朱砂), which consists of Imperial Feng Shui staples such as pure cinnabar powder (朱砂粉), agarwood oil (沉香油) and sandalwood oil (檀香油). These are ground with 24K gold foil 金箔 atop an Imperial White Inkstone (御用白端砚) to amplify the jadeite’s heavenly and prosperous energies. Throughout Master David’s blessings, the auspicious energies from these cherished ingredients are imparted to the jadeite treasures on which they are applied.

Throughout China’s dynastic history, the winter solstice stood as one of the most culturally and spiritually impactful events, deeply influencing long-standing traditions. Embodying a time of reflection, rebirth, renewal and hope for the future, it was one of the defining events in the imperial court calendar.

Each Imperial Harvest jadeite ring is adorned with a fine jadeite cabochon. These cabochons are imbued with the rich heritage of cultural and spiritual traditions that shaped and defined one of the world’s oldest civilisations.

History of Jadeite Cabochons

Blog_12.10_Guide to Fine Cabochon_Emperor Qian Long

Emperor Qian Long, who reigned during the golden age of the Qing dynasty between 1736 and 1796, highly favoured the rich hues of Burmese jadeite, going to extraordinary lengths to obtain it. In a show of solidarity, Burma (now Myanmar) presented Emperor Qian Long with rare and exquisite raw jadeite as part of a yearly tribute to his eminent reign.

The 18th century saw an unprecedented explosion of interest in Burmese jadeite. Emperor Qian Long signed a treaty with the kingdom of Burma in 1770, resulting in the exportation of quality jadeite to China.

In 1784, Emperor Qian Long extended China’s jurisdiction into northern Burma, where Chinese explorers soon discovered an important source of the precious gem. From the late 18th century, jadeite began to be imported into China through a well-established trade route, making its way into the workshops of China’s foremost jadeite artisans.

Bliss of Harvest and the Winter Solstice

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 03 December 2021

According to Imperial Feng Shui principles, winter is often associated with major yin, and one’s personal luck. The onset of Winter points to the imminent arrival of the winter solstice, or 冬至, which forms the 22nd of 24 terms of the solar calendar and falls on the 21st of December this year.

In ancient China, the winter solstice originally celebrated the end of the harvest season, with its origins being traced back to the Yin and Yang philosophy of balance within the universe. In which the theory of Yin and Yang denotes that the forces of major Yin meet the forces of minor Yang on the day of the winter solstice, thereby renewing the cycle of Yin and Yang. As the winter solstice passes, daylight hours grow increasingly longer, signalling an increase in the flow of positive yang energy.

Blog_12.03_Winter Solstice

For these reasons, the winter solstice stands as one of the most culturally and spiritually significant occasions in Chinese history, embodying a time of reflection, rebirth, renewal and hope for the new year. In the annals of China’s illustrious dynastic history, the winter solstice stood as a cherished event that deeply influenced long-standing traditions, with the grandeur and most prominent commemoration being that of the imperial court’s remarkable prayers and offerings. These rites and rituals were conscientiously upheld by generations of Chinese emperors and court officials, being conducted with utmost reverence for this defining event in the imperial court calendar.

Throughout its history as an agricultural society, the agrarian lifestyle became a central facet of everyday life. With the nation’s social and economic success dependent on bountiful harvest seasons, the emperor, in his capacity as the Son of Heaven, was called upon to conduct worship and give thanks to the Heavens. It was the omniscient, omnipotent and everlasting force that oversaw and balanced all aspects of life and society. This undertaking was crucial to the Chinese dynasties, with ritual records stating that anything less than perfection would spell bad fortune to come.

In the weeks leading up to the winter solstice, the Forbidden City would have experienced a flurry of activity, with the imperial court completing their preparations for the ceremony. Worship of Heaven culminated in the emperor leaving the Forbidden City and venturing to the Temple of Heaven (天坛) to conduct annual winter solstice prayers. These consisted of elaborate rites and rituals that gave thanks to the Heavens for the year’s harvest, as well as prayers for continued peace, prosperity and abundance in the coming year.

A tribute to the Temple of Heaven

At the centre of sacred imperial winter solstice rites stood the Temple of Heaven. The construction of this architectural masterpiece was completed at least 600 years ago under the reign of Emperor Yongle during the Ming Dynasty. For generations, it symbolised the profound relationship between heaven and earth, and had remained as the foremost site for heavenly worship and thanksgiving. Forming the focal point of the imperial winter solstice rites, the spiritual and cultural significance surrounding the Temple of Heaven only bolsters its status as the home of Imperial Feng Shui.

Walking into the temple complex within the Forbidden City, the three-tiered Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests stands as a grand and impressive building featuring an aesthetically harmonious three-tiered roof that represents the trinity of Heaven, Earth and Humanity. During the winter solstice, emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties conducted sacred rites worshipping the God of Heaven, praying for the continued prosperity and fortune of their empires.

Inspired by the magnitude and grandeur of the Temple of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, Master David was moved to conceptualise a new Imperial Harvest collection – distilling the essence of the renowned Temple of Heaven and melding Imperial Feng Shui principles with centuries of cultural significance into a contemporary statement of class and elegance. Each exquisite ring draws influence and inspiration from the cultural and architectural magnitude of the Temple of Heaven.

Bliss of Harvest Jadeite Ring Collection

Consisting of a series of five elegantly designed rings, the centre of each ring lies the crown of the Bliss of Harvest collection – the Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Cabochon. Where jadeite pendants govern an individual’s personal luck, these fine jadeite cabochons bestow heightened intuition upon their destined owner – empowering them to confidently make sound decisions and seize first-mover advantages.

Each Bliss of Harvest ring is created from a patented blend of pure gold, silver and copper resulting in a lustrous 18-karat rose gold ring that represents elements of heaven, earth and humanity. The beautiful rose gold hue only intensifies with age and evokes a vibrant red found throughout the Temple of Heaven – a colour synonymous with prosperity and auspiciousness.

Bearing a tasteful contrast of matte and mirror finishes, the first ring in the collection subtly draws reference from the harmonious existence of yin and yang – the combined essence of heaven and earth. Accented by four handcrafted screws placed equidistant from one another, alluding to the four innermost pillars of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests.

In contrast to the subtle elegance of the first Bliss of Harvest ring, the next addition to the Bliss of Harvest collection features a stunning diamond-studded inner band. The infinite luminescence of this element inspires greater achievements on its destined owner’s horizon and signifies a bright future of hope and promise. The four structural pillars interspersed along the ring band represent the four inner structural pillars of the Hall of Prayer.

A gleaming, hand-burnished mirror finish elegantly accentuates three distinct bands in this Bliss of Harvest ring. Paying homage to the sacred Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, eight brilliant-cut diamonds form four pillars to represent the Hall of Prayer’s four innermost pillars. A recurring design theme throughout the collection, these four pillars form a captivating frame for the ring – alluding to both physical and metaphoric support.

The final addition to the Bliss of Harvest collection features a minimalist yet abstract tri-band design that stands out from the previous four designs. The unique aesthetic of this band utilises the art of perspective, melding the band together and folding it into a structurally robust, yet discerning tapestry that exudes a restrained sense of power.

During the innovation process of this exquisite Imperial Harvest treasure, Master David fully immersed himself in his extensive research of Buddhist literature, studying various Buddhist mudras to decide on the most appropriate gesture to incorporate into his designs for the Eight Zodiac Guardians collection. In Buddhist studies, mudras refer to symbolic hand gestures or poses invoked during rites, rituals and meditations to achieve intended states of mind.

The Mudra of the Dharma Realm, otherwise known as the meditation mudra, is achieved by placing both hands on the lap, with the right hand situated on top of the left. The palms are turned upwards, and the thumbs touch to form a circle – thus symbolising the Amitabha Buddha in a state of meditation and profound wisdom.

This mudra empowers Amitabha’s destined devotees with powerful intuition and foresight, illuminating their paths towards prosperity by aiding them to secure high-paying jobs with bright career prospects, along with opportunities to scale their skills and businesses.
