Wealth sectors are key areas in our houses that govern our wealth, health and benefactor support.
When they are activated correctly with the expert guidance of an Imperial Feng Shui master, it can empower occupants with optimal Qi which translates into abundance and prosperity in all aspects of their lives.
In this article, we will be exploring the common classical Feng Shui methods that are used to identify wealth sectors in our homes and explain why they are inherently flawed.
1. 45 Degree Corner

The first incorrect method is known as the “45 Degree Corner”. The wealth sector is identified by looking for the longest visible corner from the entrance of the house.
This wealth corner would literally be 45 degrees diagonally left from the entrance of the house.
This is a simple and generalised Classical Feng Shui method which does not require any extensive calculations or even the analysis of your home floor plan.
2. Classical 8 Mansions
The second incorrect method is the Classical 8 Mansions 玄空八宅, which advocates that there are only eight types of house energy charts.
This method conveniently ignores the application of landforms, the year of construction of the house, the move-in date and the individual destiny charts of the occupants.
It is a simplistic way out for many self-taught Classical Feng Shui masters without the proper lineage and knowledge of authentic Imperial Feng Shui principles.
In the Classical 8 Mansions, a classical Feng Shui master adopts the following steps to locate the wealth sector:
- Determine the facing and sitting direction of the house
- Using the facing direction, find out which of the eight mansions the house belongs to
- Superimpose that mansions diagram onto the floor plan
- Locate for the wealth sector
The table summarises the position of the wealth sectors under the Classical 8 Mansions method.

From the table above, it can be concluded that this Classical Feng Shui method is ambiguous as it assumes that there would only be 8 possible wealth sector locations.
3. Purple White Method
The third method is the Purple White Method 紫白玄空八宅, which is also oversimplified as it assumes that there are only eight types of houses available.
It ignores the year in which the house was constructed and is unable to offer any prediction or forecast of events that occupants may experience, which is an important skill that differentiates an Imperial Feng Shui master from a Classical Feng Shui master.
It is also very similar to the Classical 8 Mansions which ignores the examination of external landforms, the year of construction of the house, the move-in date and the individual destiny charts of the occupants.
The table summarises the position of the wealth sectors under the Purple White Method.

This method often results in incorrect deduction of facing directions as it does not require the use of a precise Feng Shui compass (Luopan).
Imperial Feng Shui - Heritage Spanning Over Three Centuries
Many Classical Feng Shui masters have popularised their methods as an easy to implement DIY methods, even to the extent of encouraging their followers to learn from their video Feng Shui courses and to take on Feng Shui as a side-gig. This has resulted in a pool of Classical Feng Shui masters who preach the improper practice of Imperial Feng Shui.
