Imperial Harvest Sandalwood in the Season of Indirect Wealth

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 29 July 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins

Reflecting a period of great significance for Chinese communities around the world, the seventh lunar month marks an auspicious season of indirect wealth.

Ranking amongst the most valued woods in the world with a long and sacred history, sandalwood was revered in Chinese culture for its impressive fragrance, understated elegance and formidable Imperial Feng Shui properties.

Across the annals of Chinese history, sandalwood was sought after by Chinese royalty and circles of high nobility, who donned pendants and beads made of this exquisite material to enhance their indirect wealth luck.

Implications of Indirect Wealth

Through years of rigorous research, the Imperial Feng Shui masters appointed by Emperor Qian Long unveiled sandalwood's role in balancing the Minor Yin (少阴) — the cosmic phenomena governing indirect wealth capacity.

Imperial Feng Shui Principles

In Imperial Feng Shui, indirect wealth capacity refers to the income that an individual derives from secondary or supplementary sources of income — namely their stock investments, trading profiles, or even the lottery. Also referred to as windfall wealth, individuals with enhanced indirect wealth capacities can experience consistent growth and maintain financial stability throughout turbulent, constantly changing financial situations.

Individuals with limited indirect wealth capacity may experience adverse implications, such as experiencing fluctuations in their investments or missing out on opportunities that may help them further their financial aspirations. Amplifying indirect wealth capacity, therefore, makes up a crucial factor in the pursuit of wealth and prosperity.

Imperial Harvest Sandalwood Treasures

Each Imperial Harvest sandalwood treasure is derived from Old Mountain sandalwood trees no less than 80 years of age, an important factor attesting to the raw quality of the sandalwood tree.

Once harvested, the raw sandalwood is then transported to Imperial Harvest’s dedicated workshop facilities, and stored only at designated indirect wealth sectors within the workshop. There, it absorbs prosperous indirect wealth energies in an entirely natural and organic ageing process.

Imperial Harvest’s team of master artisans bring each sandalwood treasure to life, meticulously shaping, etching and carving each intricate detail by hand. What You Need To Know About the Season of Indirect Wealth

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 22 July 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 3 mins

Across Chinese society and the global Chinese diaspora, the seventh lunar month marks a period of great reverence and cultural significance. It ushers in a myriad of festivities and events, including the Zhong Yuan Festival (中元节) — known as the birthday of the Ruler of Earth, Di Guan Da Di. However, this important period also marks the arrival of the all-important season of indirect wealth.

Zhong Yuan Festival

In Imperial Feng Shui, wealth capacity is one of the preeminent factors that govern an individual’s financial success. As the season of indirect wealth, the seventh lunar month marks the greatest opportunity in the year for individuals to enhance both their indirect wealth luck and indirect wealth capacity.

Minor Yin

Indirect wealth capacity encompasses the income that an individual is able to derive from secondary sources of income, such as stock or cryptocurrency investments, trading profiles and other infrequent sources of income. Additionally, it refers to their ability to acquire assets within a short period through their windfalls.

On the other hand, indirect wealth luck refers largely to an individual’s ability to spot the winning investments or strategic trading opportunities that lead to great breakthroughs in wealth.

Why is indirect wealth important?

As indirect wealth refers to income stemming from secondary sources, a common source of such indirect wealth is through stock or cryptocurrency investments as these digital assets have only gained greater appreciation in value and heightened mainstream acceptance.  With amplified indirect wealth luck, individuals are able to experience consistent growth and portfolios that are able to weather through constantly changing financial markets.

Activating the indirect wealth sector in homes and offices is paramount for its occupants to maximise their wealth capacities, empowering them in their financial pursuits and fostering abundance and prosperity.

Activating the Water Star to enhance indirect wealth capacity

According to the principles of Imperial Feng Shui, each home, office or property space presents five important wealth sectors — one of which is the indirect wealth sector, which holds the key to ushering in prosperity from secondary income streams.

Indirect Wealth Sector

Imperial Feng Shui classics dictate that “mountains govern benefactors, authority and harmony, while water governs wealth, opportunities and intuition.” (山管人丁,水管财). This key verse indicates that the water star plays a pivotal role in governing wealth, opportunity and intuition — essential factors in the pursuit of material abundance and success.

Through years of rigorous research, the Imperial Feng Shui masters of the Qing imperial court discerned the importance of activating the water star and unveiled the role that Imperial Harvest-grade crystals held in doing so. Emperor Qian Long, a staunch patron of Imperial Feng Shui, advocated the use of such crystals within the imperial palace, catalysing the Qing empire’s rise as one of the most prominent golden ages in Chinese dynastic history.

Activated indirect wealth sector

Today, the proper activation of the water star within homes and offices empowers its occupants with breakthroughs. Upon its proper activation with Imperial Harvest-grade natural crystals, the water star promotes the flow of wealth within the property, enhancing the well-being and prosperity of the occupants, and aiding them in their pursuit of well-rounded success.

Addressing missing indirect wealth sectors

Modern-day architectural considerations often gloss over the importance of the five wealth sectors present in each property space, and result in missing sectors that negatively affect the occupants of such spaces. For those seeking to enhance their indirect wealth capacities and luck, a home with missing indirect wealth sectors may negate their hard work and efforts. It is, therefore, imperative to address such issues. While Imperial Harvest-grade crystals are capable of powerfully enhancing the indirect wealth, homes and offices with missing indirect wealth sectors require alternative solutions.

Imperial Harvest Imperial White Inkstone (Royal Emblem)

The Imperial Harvest Imperial White Inkstone collection encompasses powerful Imperial Feng Shui treasures that negate the effects of inauspicious sectors in homes and offices, while simultaneously activating the auspicious energy of the indirect wealth sector. In doing so, allowing their destined owners to focus on the key aspects of any important deliverables and business dealings, and promptly arrive at inspired decisions that lead to steady growth in secondary income streams.

Enhancing your indirect wealth luck

The arrival of the season of indirect wealth proves an opportune and auspicious time for individuals to enhance their indirect wealth luck. Enhanced indirect wealth luck enables them to experience consistent growths in their financial portfolios and secondary income streams regardless of ever-changing financial markets and circumstances. With amplified indirect wealth luck, individuals are able to effectively take advantage of evolving situations to best benefit themselves, and manifest prosperity across their financial endeavours.

This upcoming season of indirect wealth marks an auspicious period of prosperity, seize golden opportunities and enhance your indirect wealth to achieve breakthroughs in your investment and trading pursuits.

Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Pixiu

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 08 July 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 3 mins

With its multifaceted fusion of a dragon’s head, a horse’s body and unicorn claws, the Pixiu (貔貅) never fails to command attention. This auspicious creature has been an ever-present staple in Chinese mythology since time immemorial, commanding both adoration and admiration.

The Pixiu’s bold lion-like silhouette and magnificent wingspan make it a visually striking spectacle to behold. With its undeniable grandeur, it comes as no surprise that it has long been seen as a creature to be feared and respected.

In dynastic China, the Pixiu was commonly displayed at prominent locations within palaces, such as hallways and grand entrances, to optimise the flow of Qi, or cosmic energies, within. Indeed, the Pixiu has long been revered for its ability to ward off inauspicious Qi (阴气) and harness auspicious Qi (生气) for the occupants in any given location.

Pixiu Statue in Chinese Palace

According to Chinese mythology, the Pixiu is fond of water, gold, silver and other precious jewels— consuming these symbols of wealth from all directions as sustenance. These treasures are said to remain within the Pixiu indefinitely, making the creature synonymous with the acquiring and retention of blessings and wealth. This, coupled with its insatiable appetite, helps its destined owner attract and rapidly accumulate assets and resources from direct channels, as well as unexpected windfalls. In Imperial Feng Shui, the Pixiu is unsurprisingly one of the strongest auspicious manifestations of luck, particularly when it is installed in the auspicious water star sector of one’s home or workplace. It also protects occupants from all dangers and calamities, making it an omnipresent trusted guardian angel.

Imperial Harvest Pixiu Citrine Crystal

The Pixiu in Modern Times

The legend of the Pixiu persists to this day, with images and figurines of this magnificent creature commonly spotted at a wide variety of Feng Shui retailers. In gleaming contemporary malls and dingy street corners alike, one commonly chances upon all manner of such vendors, each carrying a suite of trinkets and ornaments purportedly guided by the principles of this ancient art. The adornments peddled may range from personal effects and wearable jewellery such as bracelets and charms, to imposing statues and elaborate home ornaments complete with water features, lighting and audio effects.

The nature of Feng Shui is evidently subject to great diversity in interpretation, across its numerous branches and schools of thought. Adherents of Classical Feng Shui, for example, subscribe firmly to the notion of a predestined life trajectory. This connotes an inability to change one’s predetermined luck, and instead encourages one to prepare for the misfortunes that will inevitably present themselves.

In contrast, Imperial Feng Shui subscribes to the notion that mankind is in full control of their own destiny, if only the correct tools are employed. It posits that given the appropriate circumstances, anyone is capable of creating the ideal conditions for one’s desired successes.

Such diverging interpretations extend to the use of Feng Shui treasures, leading to misguided or conflicting applications of prominent deities and mythical creatures. Alas, this includes the Pixiu, whose magnificent splendour and glory has, over generations of misinformation, been misappropriated by deviant understandings of the Feng Shui tradition.

Today, the Pixiu commonly makes its appearance on Pixiu-themed bracelets, which derive their distinctive features from Classical Feng Shui theories. For example, materials such as gold and black obsidian are often found in these bracelets, as these are hallmarks of Classical Feng Shui. While visually appealing, the use of many of these materials is not strongly supported by verifiable historical accounts in the long and illustrious practice of Feng Shui, leaving their selection primarily on aesthetic grounds.

Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Pixiu — the correct form of application

As an internationally-acclaimed pioneer in Imperial Feng Shui, Imperial Harvest is, and has always been, faithful to the principles of this ancient art. This manifests in an unwavering adherence to the groundbreaking studies undertaken by the masters of the Chinese imperial court.

According to findings from their rigorous scholarly studies, fashioning raw jadeite into wearable pendants allows it to take on an unrivalled ability to balance the major yin - the cosmic phenomenon which governs luck. This augments the reception to jadeite - already universally popular for its visual allure and smoothness to the touch. Indeed, the unmatched potency of jadeite pendants in enhancing one’s personal luck positions them as some of the most sought-after treasures in the Imperial Feng Shui domain.

Guided by these eminent findings, personal wearable treasures featuring the revered Pixiu manifest as jadeite pendants at Imperial Harvest. Conceptualised from Master David’s visionary Imperial Feng Shui expertise, the Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Pixiu exudes the mystique and glory of this mythical creature to the fullest, making it an exceptional treasure in both form and function. In adherence to the highest quality control standards established by Master David, only the most exquisite raw jadeite boulders make the cut for the Imperial Harvest collection.

Indeed, the Pixiu is a star in its own right, taking centre stage in the lineup of Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Pixiu treasures. With this latest manifestation of Imperial Harvest’s unrivalled jadeite craftsmanship and design excellence, our family of blessed clients are able to leverage the auspicious prosperity, wealth and golden opportunities unlocked by this ancient mythical creature.

How to Enhance Your Workspace with Imperial Feng Shui

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 08 July 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins

Over the last couple of years, the COVID pandemic has greatly impacted the way that we work. Hybrid working arrangements have become the norm, with many working both at home, and in the office. In this article, we will be sharing the implications of inauspicious Qi, and how it affects your working space.

According to Imperial Feng Shui classics, there are several important golden verses that not only govern the selection and layout of a property, but also discuss the implications of inauspicious landforms affecting a property space. The study room or the office space are both important locations in amplifying your direct wealth capacity and benefactor luck, and have a great impact on your success, and the achievement of your goals and aspirations.

Feng Shui tips for your work table

1. Avoid sharp corners

Avoid sharp corners

One of the golden verses in Imperial Feng Shui dictates, “壁刀煞 - 围墙门柱冲大门,家中易有中风人” — describing the inauspicious Wall Knife Sha. This term is defined as a sharp edge of a building cutting into your work desk, resulting in a multitude of challenges such as loss of wealth, legal troubles or family disharmony.

A study desk facing sharp corners may indicate that the individual occupying the space is likely to experience investment losses and increased obstacles in the workplace. In such cases, the effects of Wall Knife Sha can be mitigated by relocating the affected desk away from such sharp corners.

2. Refrain from sitting with your back facing the door

Refrain from sitting with your back facing the door
According to Imperial Feng Shui classics, sitting with your back to the door creates Poison Arrow Sha, an inauspicious Qi that promotes malefactors at work. Ideally, when seated at the desk, you should have a view of the door. The work desk should also avoid facing the door directly, as this can lead to conflicts within the workplace, especially with your superiors.

3. Avoid desks near the aisles

Avoid desks near the aisles

Refrain from selecting an office desk along a passage path or aisle as no auspicious Qi energy will be able to gather, leading to a lack of recognition and visibility in your career — hindering your progression. The continued movement along the passage paths of your workspace can disrupt the flow of energy, and promote poor communication between you and your colleagues.

4. Create space in front of your desk

Create space in front of your desk
According to Imperial Feng Shui classics, a golden verse states “宅前无余地,子孙稀” — indicating a correlation between having a large and spacious hall in front of your residence, and the enduring wealth and prosperity it ushers in. In Imperial Feng Shui, this large space is referred to as the Bright Hall.

When it comes to situating your work desk, it is inauspicious to place the desk flush against the wall as the Bright Hall aspect is absent. Therefore, it is ideal to have a sufficient amount of space in front of the desk, as this reflects the Bright Hall — ushering in beneficial opportunities for both career and academic growth.

5. Avoid placing rubbish bins on the left of your desk

Avoid placing rubbish bins on the left of your desk
Placing your desk against the left-hand wall of your working space creates the Green Dragon Crossing Hall (青龙过堂) formation. The onset of this formation extends to your working desk as well, with the left-hand side of the desk representing your benefactors. To avoid attracting any malefactors that may hinder your progress on your path to success, it is important to avoid placing any rubbish bins on the left side of the desk as doing so may even turn your benefactors into malefactors.

6. Auspicious items to place on your desk

Auspicious items to place on desk

Placing a table lamp on the far left corner of the desk introduces a bright and productive aura, and adding a small fan creates a calm aura that refreshes the colleagues and associates around you. Over time, these garner powerful and supporting benefactors, enabling you to have smooth-sailing progress in both career and business endeavours.

The addition of green plants can also assist in lessening the effects of Wall Knife Sha, as well as providing stress relief and mental respite. Bamboo plants’ ability to continuously grow and weather through harsh conditions symbolises lasting success and resilience, and other plants such as money plants or potted plants with rounded leaves are symbolic of good fortune and prosperity. Cacti and similarly thorny plants are not recommended for the workspace as they can cause you to feel isolated from your colleagues and associates.

7. Items to avoid placing on your desk

Items to avoid placing on desk
Turtles, also referred to as 玄武, are representative of malefactors in the workplace. Therefore, it is inadvisable to place them on your work desk, whether they are in the form of stuffed toys or figurines, in order to avoid attracting malefactors.

Imperial Harvest Imperial White Inkstone Collection

Often, we see in our blessed clients a strong desire to advance in their careers, or to secure salary increments. However, they often face setbacks due to a distinct lack of benefactor support and opportunities. Benefactor support is one of the most crucial factors in career success. For instance, meeting or connecting with the right people could secure strategic opportunities, and become the catalyst for your progression.

Imperial Harvest Agarwood

Financial limitations are another prevalent issue that may hinder your progress towards your goals, as individuals in good luck cycles but have limited wealth capacities tend to struggle with their finances.

Agarwood holds great significance in Imperial Feng Shui, playing a major role in maintaining an optimal balance of the Major Yang, which governs direct wealth capacity. Imperial Harvest Agarwood supercharges the direct wealth capacities of its destined wearer, empowering them to rise to the top of the career ladder and become leading authorities in their respective fields. Guan Yin’s Second Birthday — Attainment of Enlightenment

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 01 July 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins

As the deified reincarnation of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy is one of the most prominent figures in Buddhism. Across the extensive branches and traditions of this ancient religion, Guan Yin is held in great regard by its followers, who turn to her not only for her compassion and alleviation of universal suffering, but also boundless blessings in pursuing their dreams.

Guan Yin

Beyond the Buddhist realm, Guan Yin also bears vast cultural significance across generations of Chinese society, as well as the global Chinese diaspora. Across the world, temples and shrines have been established to pay tribute to one or more of Guan Yin’s 33 manifestations. Over time, each has built up a legend of its own, becoming firmly entrenched in the folklore of various communities.

Lotus sutra
The Lotus Sutra, considered one of the most influential Buddhist scriptures, exerts great influence on the devotion surrounding the Goddess of Mercy. A chapter of this most venerated text is devoted to Guan Yin, waxing lyrical about her charitably fulfilling the needs of sentient beings, and also aiding the salvation of mankind. Moreover, she selflessly took it upon herself to save mankind from greed, anger and ignorance, guiding her in her lifelong endeavours to empower humanity towards its greatest potential.

The wealth of experiences accrued by Guan Yin throughout her eventful life are today encapsulated in her three distinct birthdays celebrated devoutly by her followers. Each of these represents a specific period of significance in her journey on earth, and is commemorated annually by devotees.

  • First birthday: 19th day of the 2nd lunar month, marking her human birth as Princess Miaoshan, daughter of King Miaozhuang, ruler of Fucheng Kingdom (6th century B.C.)
  • Second birthday: 19th day of the 6th lunar month, marking her birth as a Bodhisattva and celebrating her attainment of enlightenment
  • Third birthday: 19th day of the 9th lunar month, marking her birth as a nun, marking her initiation into the way of enlightenment

Praying to Guan Yin

On each of Guan Yin’s three birthdays, Buddhist temples hold major observances in tribute to her — involving practices such as the burning of incense, the lighting of candles and making offerings and tributes in her honour. These serve to remind devotees of Guan Yin’s sacrifice and struggle against the odds for her lifelong convictions. Beyond Buddhism, Guan Yin’s legacy often transcends religious boundaries, with her admirable qualities serving as valuable teaching moments in cultural studies of ancient Chinese civilisations.

Indeed, the Imperial Feng Shui tradition also draws heavily on Guan Yin’s teachings. Especially significant is her desire to break away from her ordained path of royal privilege and stand by her creed of supporting mankind in its quest for betterment. This resonates strongly with the key tenets of Imperial Feng Shui. In particular, this ancient art stands by a staunch refusal to yield to the predestined fate that befalls each individual, instead empowering followers with the tools and techniques to manifest their desired destinies.

With the commencement of the month of July, Guan Yin’s second birthday looms on the horizon. This falls on the 19th day of the 6th lunar month — 17 July this year. Drawing on Guan Yin’s relentless commitment to the betterment of mankind, Imperial Harvest celebrates her second birthday — commemorating her attainment of enlightenment — with the finest earthly treasures inspired by her legend and legacy.

Imperial Harvest Jadeite Bead Bracelet

At Imperial Harvest, the Jadeite Beads Bracelet serves as a visually stunning tribute to Guan Yin’s divine qualities. Throughout her bouts of meditative contemplation, during which she would invoke cosmic blessings upon her devotees’ struggles and sufferings, Guan Yin was known to use a chain of rosary beads to enhance her focus and omnipresent influence across the wide-ranging experiences of her devotees. As she faithfully prayed for the salvation of mankind, the beads were methodically rotated and shuffled through her hands in a gentle rhythmic motion, putting her in an ideal state of mind to channel divine blessings to her devotees.

While the Imperial Harvest Jadeite Beads Bracelet’s functions transcend the meditative communications Guan Yin engaged in, they bear a striking resemblance to her rosary beads. In a contemporary update to her prayerful treasure, each Imperial Harvest jadeite bead is handcrafted from exquisite jadeite sourced exclusively from reputable mines in Myanmar — the world’s foremost source of jadeite in both quality and quantity. Only jadeite hearts — the very centres of jadeite boulders where Imperial Feng Shui energies are the densest — are used in the construction of Imperial Harvest jadeite beads. Exquisite jadeites — the highest tier of jadeites available — are harvested for the Imperial Harvest Jadeite Beads Bracelet, conferring upon this earthly treasure a luminous, glass-like sheen that can be derived only from this exclusive tier of jadeites.

Apart from wearable Imperial Feng Shui treasures for each blessed client, Imperial Harvest is proud to bring the self-sacrificial ethos of Guan Yin directly into devotees’ homes. She features strongly in the Imperial Harvest Agarwood sculpture collection, fashioned from premium grade agarwood sourced from pristine Indian forests.

Upon harvesting, the raw agarwood comes under the purview of Imperial Harvest’s wood artisans, who draw on their multi-generational expertise to carve the desired intricate features onto the harvested wood. It is at this stage of production that these master craftsmen are truly in their element, drawing on the wealth of skills and techniques passed down from their forefathers to fashion lifelike images on the canvas of wood before them.

The result of this labour of passion is the exquisitely handcrafted Imperial Harvest Agarwood sculptures. Within this range of sculptures, the pieces bearing the image of Guan Yin are undoubtedly among the most well-received by Imperial Harvest blessed clients.
Much of their repute derives from the rarity of such large slabs of agarwood — ideal for rendering the numerous intricate features of Guan Yin’s image. As befits an Imperial Harvest treasure, the craftsmanship employed in such meticulous detailing work is second to none.

Imperial Harvest’s name encapsulates the brand’s enduring adherence to the fundamental principles of Imperial Feng Shui:

  • 御 (yu), translates to royalty, in homage to the Imperial Feng Shui roots that stem from the Qing Dynasty’s imperial court.
  • 鼎 (ding), in reference to the ancient Chinese cauldrons or vessels used to convey tributes or offerings in a myriad of religious rites conducted at the Temple of Heaven.
  • 豐 (feng), or “bountiful harvest”, captures the essence of the Temple of Heaven, where Emperors would pray for good harvests, favourable weather conditions, continued prosperity and lasting abundance for their people.

Imperial Harvest Emblem

The latest introduction to Imperial Harvest’s collection of personal wearables is the Imperial Harvest Emblem. Drawing on the prestige of the ceremonial Ding cauldrons used by the Chinese imperial court, this all-new emblem embraces the religious and cultural significance of these artefacts — thereby empowering its blessed owners with the omnipotence of Imperial Feng Shui.

In reimagining this traditional symbol of imperial authority, Imperial Harvest adopts a modern approach with an emphasis on elegance in concept and design language. Drawing from the wealth of cultural history and melding it with prevailing contemporary trends, Imperial Harvest approaches an intersection between the old and new. The result is an impeccably crafted treasure that encompasses one of the foremost artefacts of the Imperial Feng Shui tradition, steeped in a wealth of Chinese cultural history.

Ding Cauldron

At the centre of each Imperial Harvest Emblem lies a stylised “鼎” (ding), a Chinese character that makes up part of the Imperial Harvest name, and references the ceremonial cauldrons used in the rites and rituals of the imperial court. Its resemblance to the firmly-established Imperial Harvest Seal affirms the Emblem as an unmistakable statement of the brand’s esteem.

The earliest Ding cauldrons were used for a variety of purposes, being used in a variety of domestic applications such as cooking or storage. Over time, they became closely associated with ceremonial purposes and were used as ritual vessels in feast rites, the commemoration of auspicious events of various sacrificial ceremonies.

During the Zhou dynasty (1046 to 256 B.C.), the Ding cauldrons came to be seen as a symbol of utmost authority. Their usage connoted the highest levels of prestige, inextricably intertwining this ceremonial symbol with the eminence and authority of the ruling nobility.

The Ding cauldrons played an essential role in the religious rites conducted at the Temple of Heaven, particularly during auspicious occasions such as Chong Yang or the Summer and Winter Solstices. These reverent worship rites and rituals conducted by the Chinese emperors were believed to usher in great wealth, prosperity and abundance for their people. During such ceremonial rites, the Ding cauldrons were used as a vessel for offerings and tributes, conveying the Emperor’s wishes to heaven and serving as a physical link between earthly realms and heavenly authority.

A connection to Heaven

In conceptualising the all-new Imperial Harvest Emblem, Master David looked toward the history and heritage behind the royal ceremonial cauldrons of the Chinese imperial courts.

Blog_06.24_Origins of IH Mark of Excellence_Secondary Logo (Octagon)

The stylised “鼎” (ding) character at the heart of the Imperial Harvest Emblem is bounded by an octagonal perimeter and encircled by a circular edge. This distinctive perimeter is a tribute to the Imperial Feng Shui tenets that lie at the heart of Imperial Harvest. Its significance stems from the Eight Trigrams in Imperial Feng Shui — considered to be the foundational building blocks of contemporary Imperial Feng Shui, Chinese civilisation, society and culture.

The perfectly round edge that bounds the Imperial Harvest Emblem brings to mind the ancient Chinese philosophy, “天圆地方” or “Round Heaven and Square Earth”. Throughout dynastic Chinese history, this steadfast philosophy has influenced the architectural design of many iconic buildings in China, corresponding with the widespread association of all heavenly things with round shapes and silhouettes.

In distilling the Ding cauldron as a symbol of imperial authority, Imperial Harvest draws from its heavenly connotations, culminating in an exquisite Imperial Harvest treasure that brings to the forefront a tangible, yet harmonious symbol of contemporary aesthetics melding with rich cultural traditions.

Ushering in the Summer Solstice

Posted by Imperial Harvest on 10 June 2022

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins

As summer reaches its zenith during Xiazhi (夏至), it signals the arrival of one of the most important solar terms in traditional Chinese culture — the Summer Solstice. This height of the summer season forms the tenth of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunisolar calendar, and marks one of the most important periods in Chinese culture.

Beginning on 21 June this year when the sun reaches the exact celestial longitude of 90°, the arrival of the Summer Solstice brings with it a much anticipated time of growth and prosperity.

Imperial Traditions during the Summer Solstice

In Chinese dynastic history, the Summer Solstice was met with a flurry of festivities, with traditional celebrations dating as early as the Han dynasty (202 BC – 220 AD). Where the Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, the Summer Solstice marked its longest day. In particular, these most auspicious solar terms were greeted with great reverence and were deemed by ancient Chinese emperors as great occasions to hold magnificent festivals and celebrations.

Summer Solstice in ancient China

Winter Solstice celebrations called for the worship of Heaven, whereas the Summer Solstice brought with it a time for Earth worship. In ancient China, the Summer Solstice celebrations were often referred to as the Summer Solstice Festival (夏至节). Historically, communities from all walks of life seized the Summer Solstice as an opportunity to devote their prayers and gratitude to the God of Earth, Tua Pek Gong (土地公). As one of the most powerful wealth gods and manifestations of auspicious luck in Chinese culture, Tua Pek Gong also governs the direct wealth of his devotees.

Harvest Celebrations and Imperial Rites

Generations of emperors across the Ming and Qing dynasties patronised the Temple of Earth during the Summer Solstice festivities. The reverent ritual worship carried out by these esteemed rulers was believed to usher in great wealth, prosperity and abundance to their empires.

The Ming and Qing dynasty emperors would ascend the Temple of Earth, conducting worship rites with exuberant flair in celebration of the God of Earth. Having been commissioned by Emperor Jiajing of the Ming dynasty and completed in 1530, the Temple of Earth stands as one of Beijing’s most culturally significant historical monuments.

Temple of Earth

The temple stands on a square-shaped altar, and is encircled by water channels — a grand allusion to the ancient Chinese principle of “天圆地方”, or “Round Heaven, Square Earth”. These architectural traits are symbolic of the Temple of Earth’s status as a sacred site of worship for bountiful harvests. The temple’s main altar, known as the Fangze Temple, was designed to offer tributes to the God of Earth.

Fangze Temple at the Temple of Earth

Emperor Qian Long of the Qing dynasty recognised the importance of such ritual worship in bringing lasting abundance to his empire. As a staunch advocate of imperial Feng Shui, he ascended the Temple of Earth during the annual Summer Solstice festivities, donning fine white jadeite in accordance with his favourable element, metal. He led the Summer Solstice rituals with his set of agarwood beads in hand, offering tributes and grand prayers for the God of Earth’s favour, a year free from natural disasters, as well as expressing his gratitude for the harvest. His dedication to these rites and prayers was thought to account for why the Qing dynasty enjoyed unprecedented wealth, harmony, peace and prosperity.

Imperial Harvest Agarwood Bead Bracelet

A major proponent of Emperor Qian Long’s ceremonial rites during the Summer Solstice celebrations, Agarwood additionally plays a major role in maintaining an optimal balance of the Major Yang. In Imperial Feng Shui, the Major Yang is one of the four universal phenomena that make up the forces of Yin and Yang.

Agarwood is revered as the “Wood of the Gods”, and is native to the dense forests of Southeast Asia. The rarity of natural Agarwood trees has made Imperial Harvest-grade Agarwood one of the most sought-after commodities in the world. Prized for its exquisite fragrance and appearance, it is also held in high regard for its ability to expand the direct wealth capacity of its destined owner.

Seamlessly enhancing the appearance of Imperial Harvest’s collection of Agarwood Bead Bracelets is our all-new mark of excellence. Governing the direct wealth capacity of his devotees, Tua Pek Gong ushers in massive benefactor support, bringing beneficial opportunities for the progression of their careers and personal growth.

Since the founding of Imperial Harvest, jadeite has remained firmly at its heart and soul. Having featured prominently across the Imperial Harvest collection, this cherished earthly treasure today proudly adorns the living and working spaces of countless Imperial Harvest clients.

Qian Long Jadeite Mountain in Home Setting

Its acclaim is derived from no mere happenstance. According to the time-honoured tenets of Imperial Feng Shui, jadeite occupies an enviable position among the foremost of earthly treasures. In each of its multiple manifestations, it propels the blessed owner towards abundant growth and success. Moreover, its versatility allows for the incorporation of a variety of ornate details, such as auspicious deities and symbols of the Imperial Feng Shui tradition.

Imperial Harvest-grade Jadeite

At Imperial Harvest, the jadeite cabochon holds immense cultural significance. According to the findings of Imperial Feng Shui masters of the Qing dynasty, jadeite cabochons possess the unique capability to balance the minor yang, the cosmic phenomenon that governs intuition. Intuition is critical for making decisions in uncertain and dynamic situations. In the face of ambiguity, it empowers one to make sense of limited information and act decisively to seize first-mover advantages.

Minor Yang within Major Yin

Mirroring the position of the minor yang within the major yin, each Imperial Harvest fine jadeite cabochon is hewn from the centre of premium-grade jadeite boulders, where Imperial Feng Shui energies are the densest and most intense. Only the choicest of these jadeite hearts find their way into the Imperial Harvest workshop, preserving the prestige of every Imperial Harvest fine jadeite cabochon. The stringent selection of fine jadeite boulders, sourced exclusively from jadeite-rich Myanmar, also ensures the unrivalled vivid clarity and colour of each Imperial Harvest fine jadeite cabochon.

Imperial Harvest Raw Jadeite Boulder

This is none more clearly exemplified than in the Imperial Harvest Jadeite Beads Bracelet collection. Every Imperial Harvest jadeite bead is carved from the same exceptional jadeite boulders as Imperial Harvest jadeite cabochons, imbuing it with the finest intuition-enhancing properties. Like all jadeite treasures in the Imperial Harvest stable, Imperial Harvest jadeite beads are brought to life with a fully organic approach, without any harsh chemicals or abrasive carving techniques.
